The Face Of The World Change in November: US Presidential election & Execution of Trio Bali Bombers

November 5, 2008 · 5 Comments

November comes and many things that will happen will likely to change the face of the world we live in. First, off course what the world has been desperately waiting for: Barrack Obama wins the US presidential election and becomes the first African-American person elected as US president. The world is not ready just to imagine that McCain will be elected as president as it will be other years of chaos, continuation of terror by war ‘war on terror’ ala GWB. Hope for change, for better of course, is on the back of Obama. Let’s just hope that he really achieve his vow to change the world, for better.
Secondly, the execution of trio Bali Bomber: Amrozi, Imam Samudera and Muklas. After waiting for six years long, appeal by appeal, it is now come the time for justice to stand. As one opinion I heard from an Aussie citizen: you cannot kill 202 people and wish to get away from that, justice must be done, as simple as that. Some people may welcome them as a new hero or martyr but pardon me to say that even Jack the Ripper is probably a hero for someone.
If I can wish something from this execution is that let’s just make it as a lesson, enough stubbornest about the idea that terrorism is a way to make a better world, at least three person prove it wrong. I hope that there will be no other person being executed for this foolish idea but more importantly that there will not be any other victim of terrorism.
I guess that are two things that will likely make a good story of the year, as something to talk about while watching Melbourne Cup, seeing some pretty girls wearing gorgeous dress from Myer, walking barefoot after the race. Or probably it is just a story to accompany me cleaning up domestic refuse and huge amount of recyclables during annual clean up, first week of November.
