I read an opinion on Republika 14 Oct 2008 titled “mempercepat RUU pornografi”. (Fasten pornography bill?) The opinion underlined how Australia considers that child pornography is an important matter, proven by a case a West Australia 2003 (actually there are more recent news, you can name Bill Henson for instance rather than a 5 years old story). Therefore one of the ideas of the article is that debate on pornography bill should be more about how we take for granted about the future of the children and not about religion, ethnic and social issues. The bill should also be focused on the production and distribution of pornography industry rather than the use of pornography product.
In a short word, if what we’re talking about is focused is about the future sake of children, and then the bill should be changed into child pornography bill. That way, there will be lessening fuss about religious, ethnic and social issues since the content of the bill will be different: how to protect children from abusing or being abused in any matter related with pornography. Changing bill pornography into child pornography bill is the shortcut I will suggest to the opinion writer if he scared to continue discussion on how pornography bill will affect religious and cultural aspect in Indonesia. Otherwise let’s continue the discussion and not just silently prepare the bill as ramadhan gift or conducting a public hearing with a statement that it will not change the content or the essence of the draft, this is nonsense and wasting money.
About focusing on the production and distribution of pornography industry rather than the use of pornography product, I agree with it, but once again, what is pornography itself? If the definition of pornography is as it stated at the first article of the bill draft, then even a child wearing a Speedo and or performing a crayon Sinchan elephant dance can be considered as a producing, or distributing or using a pornography product (therefore crayon sinchan itself, is a pornography product). Redefine the definition, and the discussion will go on, hopefully, smoothly.
this is just a stub, read here for more fruity discussion

Hahaha..
why is the lawyer that makes it concern Mr Haji?
you put the 2nd for children sake?
it’s been a while the discussion is stopped since DPR passed this bill, and we know that up till today this bill is just nonsense, no action at all.
It doesn’t clear what protects who, why fuss?
It was just a bid of our fellow DPR members to fill their pocket and smooth their way for incoming general election.
when you know how vulnerable children are against pornography, you’ll know how important it is to protect them.
adult like us may become victim of pornography but we should also know how to avoid it, what is the point of being adult anyway.
