Catch-Up

It’s been awhile I did not write something. After I came back to Hobart, I have to catch up all the things that I’ve missed. So many things happened, especially in Indonesia. We knew recently there had been a policy By IT minister M. Nuh to ban youtube related to pornography and recently controversial short movie, fitna. The policy was withdrawn few day afterward but it was too little too late, people had already build opinion that the government picked wrong person as a minister, a person who did not think clearly before making a decision. Not only the government, members of The House of Representatives also do not represent people voice at all. They do not ears and eyes, so when Slank, an Indonesian legend of blues super band, criticize them on one of their song in 2004, they just heard the song last month, and try to prosecute the band which absolutely a ridiculous idea knowing that Slank carry the pure voice of people in Indonesia. Thus, they annulled the prosecution plan and what happened rise more admiration for Slank and embarrassment for The House of Representatives.

Looking at Kompas.com everyday, Indonesia is still facing the same problem day by day. And really, to get a better description of Indonesia, I find it better to look from outside Indonesia, comparing with another country, make a critique, and try to find a solution, although some of them will be rejected by some people who cannot get out from their comfort zone, not knowing that their deed will lead to more devastation.
