Salary of teacher in Palestine

February 2, 2009 · Leave a Comment

The lowest is 200 USD, according to Kompas. well that’s not too bad, similar to salary of teacher in some areas in Indonesia, and Indonesia is not in war condition, should be able to pay wages more than that.

January 26, 2009 · 2 Comments

It’s aussie day and I am stranded on my lab.
However I pretty much enjoy it. funny but it’s seems that if I am working while feeling that it is a holiday, it seems there’s no longer any burden. no more laziness. I wish I could feel like this everyday, it will feel like holiday everyday, and I will no longer need a holiday :)

Weezer’s song ‘Hash Pipe’ is very similar to God Bless’ ‘Kehidupan’

December 15, 2008 · 2 Comments

Lately it has been hot discussion about guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani file legal action on Coldplay, claiming that the band song Viva LaVida Plagiarising Joe’s  “If I COuld Fly” riffs. I am not really surprised about that because I found some video showing Coldplays’ songs similar to other artist like 311 or alizee.

While watching some videos from youtube about some similar songs, I was sumbled upon Weezer’s song “Hash Pipe” (I thought it was ‘hush puppies’ at the first time,  lol) and in my opinion the song riffs  is very similar to one song performed by Indonesian legend of rock: God Bless, titled “kehidupan” that was released in 1988 from thir album ‘Semut Hitam” (CMIIW).  You can compare it yourself.

for better version of Kehidupa you can listen here.

In most cases of music plagiarism I see that the person or band  who plagiarise other work is usually more famous than the one thecopy from. It divided public opinion since the band accused of plagiarism take example Coldplay has bigger fans than Joe Satriani and this may cause that Coldplay will settle and win the case although in fact they are guilty. I think that this is so unfair, just because you are more famous does not mean that you can get away from plagirising.

Bloggers Unite for Refugees

November 10, 2008 · 1 Comment

As thousands or millions or Bloggers unite today to raise voice for a better attention for 14 millions refugees spread all over the world, I think that this is a good opportunity as well for me to represent my brothers and sisters that are still out there, helpless, homeless waiting for help, for betterment of life and their future.

I would like to raise my voice, so that the world can join together as one to care for others, those who still live in uncertainty and needed help at most. In Indonesia, still thousands of refugees need help, those that suffered from tsunami in Aceh, earthquake in Jojakarta, and mud flow in porong, Sidoarjo, east Java. Those that I mention are just a tiny little bit of the story of refugees in this world, still excludes thousands of refugees in Darfur and Palestine for example. I hope start from today the whole world hear our voice, bloggers voice, and continue to help those who needed.

Let’s help to make a change, yes we can!

The Face Of The World Change in November: US Presidential election & Execution of Trio Bali Bombers

November 5, 2008 · 5 Comments

November comes and many things that will happen will likely to change the face of the world we live in. First, off course what the world has been desperately waiting for: Barrack Obama wins the US presidential election and becomes the first African-American person elected as US president. The world is not ready just to imagine that McCain will be elected as president as it will be other years of chaos, continuation of terror by war ‘war on terror’ ala GWB. Hope for change, for better of course, is on the back of Obama. Let’s just hope that he really achieve his vow to change the world, for better.
Secondly, the execution of trio Bali Bomber: Amrozi, Imam Samudera and Muklas. After waiting for six years long, appeal by appeal, it is now come the time for justice to stand. As one opinion I heard from an Aussie citizen: you cannot kill 202 people and wish to get away from that, justice must be done, as simple as that. Some people may welcome them as a new hero or martyr but pardon me to say that even Jack the Ripper is probably a hero for someone.
If I can wish something from this execution is that let’s just make it as a lesson, enough stubbornest about the idea that terrorism is a way to make a better world, at least three person prove it wrong. I hope that there will be no other person being executed for this foolish idea but more importantly that there will not be any other victim of terrorism.
I guess that are two things that will likely make a good story of the year, as something to talk about while watching Melbourne Cup, seeing some pretty girls wearing gorgeous dress from Myer, walking barefoot after the race. Or probably it is just a story to accompany me cleaning up domestic refuse and huge amount of recyclables during annual clean up, first week of November.

Pornography Bill, should it be changed into Child Pornography Bill?

October 15, 2008 · 2 Comments

I read an opinion on Republika 14 Oct 2008 titled “mempercepat RUU pornografi”. (Fasten pornography bill?) The opinion underlined how Australia considers that child pornography is an important matter, proven by a case a West Australia 2003 (actually there are more recent news, you can name Bill Henson for instance rather than a 5 years old story). Therefore one of the ideas of the article is that debate on pornography bill should be more about how we take for granted about the future of the children and not about religion, ethnic and social issues. The bill should also be focused on the production and distribution of pornography industry rather than the use of pornography product.

In a short word, if what we’re talking about is focused is about the future sake of children, and then the bill should be changed into child pornography bill. That way, there will be lessening fuss about religious, ethnic and social issues since the content of the bill will be different: how to protect children from abusing or being abused in any matter related with pornography. Changing bill pornography into child pornography bill is the shortcut I will suggest to the opinion writer if he scared to continue discussion on how pornography bill will affect religious and cultural aspect in Indonesia. Otherwise let’s continue the discussion and not just silently prepare the bill as ramadhan gift or conducting a public hearing with a statement that it will not change the content or the essence of the draft, this is nonsense and wasting money.

About focusing on the production and distribution of pornography industry rather than the use of pornography product, I agree with it, but once again, what is pornography itself? If the definition of pornography is as it stated at the first article of the bill draft, then even a child wearing a Speedo and  or performing a crayon Sinchan elephant dance can be considered as a producing, or distributing or using a pornography product (therefore crayon sinchan itself, is a pornography product).  Redefine the definition, and the discussion will go on, hopefully, smoothly.

this is just a stub, read here for more fruity discussion

Another surprise from Kompas e-paper : Kompas regional Jawa

September 24, 2008 · 1 Comment

Checkout http://epaper.kompas.com. Start from yesterday I found out that Kompas e-paper include regional news from Java: Jawa tengah, Jawa timur and Jawa Barat. So now the e-paper is richer with factual and actual information from Indonesia, both national and regional. Compared to other e-paper, Kompas is still the best in my opinion. It doesn’t require login and registration like republika e-paper, and it provide access to past days news archive. What’s not good about that.

Hay Fever!

September 11, 2008 · 7 Comments

I have never suffered from hay fever before in Indonesia and in fact I hay fever will never listed in my life dictionary if I never suffer from it even once. Unfortunately here in Aussie I know what it feels to suffer from this allergy. It feels like common cold symptoms but it’s different, it is not ‘masuk angin’, sneezing, runny nose and itching eyes. I already suffer from it twice, every spring. Fortunately It can be cured readily with drugs you can easily find at supermarket.

To be honest I seldom sick here, I guess because Aussie is less humid and less dusty  compared to Indonesia, I rarely catch cold or sore throat and furthermore there is  flu shot to prevent from influenza and I tried once and it works for me. I hope I will get better soon.

My new blues guitar hero

September 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

It’s Joe Bonamassa, Guitar world number one blues guitarist of 2008. Fortunately, for a big name like hime you can download fully and legally some or probably I should say most of his songs at We7.com. He played a wide range variety of Blues music, and although his guitar playing  and singing style remind me of Gary Moore, but Joe is not just playing pentatonic or minor blues, he is just awesome. In my opinion, as other famous blues guitarists like BB King or Stevie Ray Vaughan, some says that you will remember his voice and playing but probably not the title of the songs, that makes your only reference of Blues music goes always to Eric Clapton. However, I think Joe should be rated not far below BB King and SRV. check him out.

The Embaracing Face of the National Election Commission (KPU) : insist to go abroad for an unclear mission

September 4, 2008 · 1 Comment

On Kompas today, seven members of National Election Commission (KPU) insist to travel abroad to 14 countries to socialize the 2009 General Election. It seems ridiculous that while they still have tons of jobs to do they prefer to put a drop in a bucket, going abroad to inform about the incoming General Election for around 18.000 voters, while millions of others were neglected because of some unsolved problems related with the preparation of General Election. It said that KPU haven’t even prepare the material that will be brought for their mission to 14 countries. I don’t think that those 7 person whose face displayed as a head line in Kompas today have a goodwill in this mission. They use citizen’s money to go for an unclear mission while they forget their backyard homework. I wish they comprehend the use of technology to spread information rather than going abroad themselves with people’s money for something that not even sure can be accomplished. what a shame!

Mozilla Firefox 3!

August 28, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I upgraded my internet browser with firefox 3 just now. I haven’t find something very special about it. I like the classic theme better than the new one. when I launch it for the first time, it says that it needs a compatible Java Console for an add-on that I installed. I forgot to keep my bookmarked page when I install it, so they are all gone! So, I got a bad first impression with this new upgrade. but I hope it will change after a couple of days.

Update: it’s all solved, firefox 3 is the best browser for me so far, salut!

The astonishing Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony: just like firework, faded in seconds

August 28, 2008 · 2 Comments

When I saw the Opening Ceremony of Beijing Olympic 2008, I think that it will be hard for the next host of Olympic to create a more spectacular show than this one. The magnificent pyrotechnic, astonishing special effect and colossal performance create a wonderful 3 hours of show. I was thinking that this show will be remembered for decade as a brilliant masterpiece. Unfortunately, just few days after the ceremony I found out that some part of the ceremony were faked. The fireworks that astonish the television viewer was nothing more than a compilation of works created both during the show and during the rehearsal, while the song sung in the opening ceremony was actually a lip-synched because the real singer was considered too ugly to perform the song. This is not right and ethically incorrect. As a firework the spark is faded in seconds, I am disappointed and I think that Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremony is not something very special to remember for. Let’s hope that the Great Britain will perform something genuine for the opening ceremony, which of course will be better than 2008 Olympic.

Update: I watched the closing ceremony of the beijing olympics, it was awesome. yeah, at the point that David Beckham and Jimmy Page entered the bird nest. to be honest I prefer watching Jimmy Page playing with his guitar for full 3 hours than watching hundreds or thousand of people marching,or wired and attached into a giant globe. well that is my own taste. some says that Beijing Olympic is a priceless moment for product made in china product. well, I guess they are correct. in my misanthropical words: compare a Sony product with some MIC products you can think of, and decide what you choose. Again, it’s just my opinion, no need to be hurt or ban this blog please.

Between Rangga Wardhana and Eko Ramaditya

July 8, 2008 · 3 Comments

I read some recent news about blogger from Indonesia and looks like focus of discussion is a blogger named rangga wardhana who had published ‘stolen’ active credit card records in his blog. You can read the story here, with some opinion about the topics. My reaction is not different from them. Right now, I am planning to get a credit card and this news, although will not affect anything, was made me doubt for a while. A sad new from Indonesian blogger world.

Another name, this time is a good people: Eko Ramaditya. I read his profile and life story in Kompas Newspaper today. very rarely we see a blind person blogger. His story is an inspiration for other people especially blogger all over the world. Watching his blog www.ramaditya.com makes me feel inspired, WOW! In my opinion, Eko Ramaditya is one of few people who can make the world better for himself and (whether he knows or not) for other people. Just check out his site and you’ll find out.

e-paper kompas: new way to get news from home.

July 3, 2008 · 2 Comments

Feeling lack of information from Indonesia? not anymore! From now on I can read one of the main newspaper in Indonesia: Kompas via Internet. It is really a great news. Back in Indonesia, I always read Kompas. In my opinion, It is the only newspaper that is perfect in serving the fact in high quality writing. That is why Kompas becomes the most widely read newspaper in Indonesia (wikipedia). I really like like to read it, so that when my office was subscribe to another newspaper, I state my disagreement while nobody else seems to care about it, finally, my office subscribe to Kompas newspaper.

I have been missing to read Kompas for sometimes, but now Kompas can be read via internet, perfectly the same as the print paper version. Altough for the future it may not be free access, still it means that people all over the world can read Kompas wherever they are. It is still a reliable, green, and cheap way to access factual news from Indonesia. check it out: www.kompascetak.com.

The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers!

July 2, 2008 · 2 Comments

Check out this cool website: www.adrenalini.com. The Amazing Adrenalini Brothers! is my favourite cartoon, I often watch it if I already awake before sunrises in the morning on ABC1 channel. Adi, Enk and Xan amuse me with their rendoosian style death-defying stunt. Look how your window screen suddenly restore down with exploding sound when you press the buttons. I like the cartoon very much, a good way to start the day. If TV channel at your place does not broadcast this cartoon, you can watch some short episodes on the website. you’ll love it.

inventor or prank?

June 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment

2008-05-27

Between the new inventor, blue energy, publicity and media

Another news from Indonesia, a man is claiming that he invent a new technology that will transform water into hydrogen fuel energy. Joko Suprapto was invited by president SBY to attend Hari Kebangkitan Nasional ceremony in Jakarta, but he didn’t come because he said that he was sick. People say this mysterious man who owns a FM radio channel, has already bought some lands to make factory to produce the transforming engine. Some people believe that this person is just looking for a sensation in media.

I say this man is just a fraud. Or perhaps if it is true that he has the capability to produce blue energy, which I doubt about it, than he is too greedy to keep the information himself and gambling to make profit out of it, at the same time he is far too confidence boasting his hoax to the media. Lack of media as a place for a person with brilliant invention and lack of information on how people can develop his invention and surety that their intellectual property right will be protected makes people with brilliant idea do not know where they must go to introduce their invention.

In Aussie, there is a show titled The New Inventors on ABC1 where people who have  brilliant invention is challenged to exhibit their invention, competing with other inventors, where the panellist and people all over the country can vote for the best or the favourite invention. During the presentation, the inventor must describe what their invention, how it is work, also the visibility and feasibility of the exhibit to be used for the benefit of the people. Therefore, no basting, no soapy talk on something that is not clear. It’s all transparent and people can see what is going on.

If there is a similar way to introduce someone’s invention in Indonesia, nobody will buy Joko’s hoax.
